Against

He visits in silence
Leaving only footprints
The wind scrapes like a tree branch
Against the siding
But there is none outside against it
And the odds again fill a great bucket
Someday surely poured upon heads
Does avoidance work
Or actually create that which one dreads
Snow piles up without rest
Spring is around the corner the sun says
Page by page a book
Still no closer to the end
As the unrelenting writer
Is back at it or up against
