How Big Is The World? - Poem by Paola Degli Esposti

How big is the world
in a child's heartbeat? Beautiful creature expressive almond' eyes
she runs fast towards the
terrace on the top roof
not sure in her balance upon the narrow staircase
she wants to play there
how big is the world?
up there and then looking down she thinks
all seems so small
she feels like a giant she can play and jumps the rope there is
silence and then noises of cars
passing by
down on the road
she has a big vision and watches a
far horizon sometimes
People call her Stella or Beauty
when they meet her
