I Just Don’t Get It

I just don’t get it
I never have
It doesn’t
Look
As if
Staying alive
Longer
Will
Help at all
I just don’t
Get it

Others
Get it
They tell me
They get it
Perhaps
Not in so
Many words
But in the way
They act
The way
They talk
The way
They consume
The way
They refuse
To change

I hear
To be human
Is to change
I
Don’t see it
In fact
I see
People
Doing
The opposite
Refusing
To change

All around
Me
Which can only
Mean
What I see
Reflects me
That I refuse
To change
As much
As the next
Guy

I don’t
Understand
Why I lay
In bed
Early
In the morning
Sleepless
Playing
Over and over
The fact
That I don’t
Get it
It doesn’t
Have a particularly
Nice tune
Its rhythm
Sucks
Notes are out
Of place
I don’t get it

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
