I Realize And Cannot Realize - Poem by Sayeed Abubakar
I realize the buds, the flowers
and their blooming in the gardens of earth;
only I cannot realize their falling down from trees.
I realize the clouds, the rain
and the sweet soft sound of its fall;
only I cannot realize the thunder.
The rivers, the fields, the oceans, the forests,
the hills and the mountains—
I realize them all;
only I cannot realize the deserts.
I realize the fishes, the sharks, the deer
and the bright striped tigers;
only I cannot realize a shark beside a fish
and a tiger beside a deer.
I realize life
and many turns of life I realize very clearly;
only I cannot realize the ice-cold death any way.
