Living the dream (revisited)

Still porn for breakfast, dutch tulips in bloom
an indian dog, circling every bloody room
a couple from emmen, then later, rotterdam
3 in the morning, leo smelt ham?
gravel was picked up, a mixed up stick lent a hand
the beeg peeg shrieked, and wished it was sand

finally arriving at dunster by candlelight
this time no stomach pains, and everything's alright
yarn markets, hot dogs, castle and bats
if i could live this each day, everynight i'd sleep with cats

cutting out articles 'til you both struggle for breath,
getting banned from libraries for smelling like death
political correspondents have faces that drop,
i'll only accept seeing fake war heroes, if real wars stop

emerging through curtains onto a four poster bed
when i look in my baby's eyes, everything is said
hands in each other's pockets, lockets of hair
forgetting about entering competitions and winning a bear

still porn for breakfast, panoramic views
couple of months later, me and you on the news
in between show men, our snowman, showed then
it matters not about where why what or when
when you are there, living the dream,
living the dream, that is all

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
