The Family Reunion - Poem by Dexsta Ray

So many faces that I didn't get to see
Still...
I remember every one of ya'll
Cousins, the kin folk
Friends are family and
I send love
All of whom are a part of me and I'm in touch...
Look at all the food
The family's history
Amazing when you learn about the family's mysteries
Elders full of wisdom
They've survived where you're fixed to be
I learned to put the pride out to the side
So I'm listening...
I pray the younger people see the truth early on
So many young kids early
Gone...
Father bless US
Keep the family in protection as they're returning to their sections
Never question the love
And I'm sure to make the next one
Circumstances and such... kept me out of this one
But I'm still pressing and blessed
In spite of everything
See, light comes after every rain

An ode to the Gardner reunion
