Electric Lady

Tragic Dream

I'm just a tragic girl living in a tragic world
I'm lost in a fairy tale with no happy ending
So I close my eyes and try to imagine one
As my mind drifts off to another place, behold
I look so pretty with no makeup on my face
But my heart breaks every time I look at you
It seems as if the world is falling apart
Inside my very soul
These lies you turn into lullabies
Are more attractive than your actual charms
I can't keep guessing with you
There's not enough hours in the day
Though my spirit follows your every move
Love is a crazy cycle of events
The tide is too expensive
And my life is on the line
I hate the way you make me feel
It's like I'm living on a prayer
You strip me naked and I am bare
This ring on my finger is sacred
If I take it off
I'll end up losing my self-worth, alas
You hold me tight with all your might
Promise me I won't slip away this time
Promise me this tragic dream will end soon
Tears are like fireworks
As they explode
The crowd gets excited
And we are a crowd, me and you
I imagine this to be a happy ending.

This is beautiful, the words depict vivid images. You foresee the truth of what is to come. (Report) Reply

Just Home and Love! the words are small
Four little letters unto each;
And yet you will not find in all
The wide and gracious range of speech
Two more so tenderly complete:
