Linda’s new boyfriend twirls her around the dance floor; ‘I knew he would’. Able now to spot the dancers even before the music starts having been to enough of these family functions.
Everyone else except for a few kids that are on the dance floor sliding across it in their stocking feet remain seated, talking new cars taxes and the price of gas.
While the sweet sixteen birthday girl makes the rounds table to table, doling out kisses and hugs to uncles & cousins, and them like me. Just trying to keep a low profile, nudging their old lady every now and then to remind her.
I wanna get home in time for Leno’s monologue or at least that first comedy bit after!
Cause I kept my promise, didn’t drink like I said I wouldn’t. So now she better kept hers, and leave at a reasonable hour, so we make it!
