JAGMOHAN SINGH

Voice Poem by JAGMOHAN SINGH

Repression
using force
oppression
using bullet
suppression
using bomb
can’t silence
the voice
forever.
Occasionally
it gets muted
only to rise again
to be a mighty movement
The oppressor gets pushed to the corner
sanity decreases
oppression increases
the voice becomes louder
More oppression
shriller the voice
Unabated the process
culminates in
the victory of voice.

Original in Punjabi. Translated by the poet himself.
