What Is To Be In An Open Sea

what is to be in an open sea?
where the wind blows
and the sun glows
what is to be in an open sea?
when the hunter-of-the-east
is caught by the beast
and sank beneath the waves
and the complete octaves
what is to be in an open sea?
when the moon is bright
and spread over its light
where can one be on such a night
with the moonlit sight

Poem of the Day

poet Sidney Lanier

Once, at night, in the manor wood
My Love and I long silent stood,
Amazed that any heavens could
Decree to part us, bitterly repining.
