The bluebells adorn the ditch of the bohreen
And on the hedgerows and in leafy groves of Dereen
The songbirds are singing in the dawning gray
Just before sunrise on a beautiful day

You may feel the whole World is against you but few things in life do seem fair
But hope for a better tomorrow of the future one should not despair
And may today it be your worst day the toughest times for you may have gone
Just like every other survivor you hang in there and keep on keeping on

He help the homeless children the children of the street
He give them clothes and shelter he give them food to eat
He try to shield them from police the police no mercy show
And the glue sniffing children of the streets at their hands suffer so.

It is a confession though it may seem a tale
At a lesbian party I was the lone male
The hosts an ageing lesbian couple they invited me
To dropp in on saturday evening for sandwiches and tea.

You well may be special and looked on as great
And you may be the one many do celebrate
But even those who are World renowned and at what they do World number one
If they do not retire when at the top by someone they will be outdone

I may never more see the Town of Millstreet
Or walk through the fields to where the waterways meet
Or hear the birds sing in the prime of the May
On the leafy hedgerows from here far away
...

You may know a lot about your favourite game
And from your commentaries and writings on it you know of wealth and fame
But there's more to life than talking of and writing of football
And about other things you seem to know little at all
...

You may be quite good even great at what you do
But remember there are some as good as you
And though at present you may be the best
From self praise at times your tongue does need a rest.

You may as well be happy for your troubles only few
And compared to many others hardships you've not been through
Some people know great poverty and their life journey uphill
But they make the most of their lives and they live on with a will.

There is a distinct coolness in the late Autumn breeze
And it's chilly in the highlands though not cold enough to freeze
And a high today the forecast read of 17 degrees
And the currawongs are piping on the eucalyptus trees.

We all may be equal in that we breathe the same air
But don't tell me that all in life is quite fair
Whoever speaks such tripe through their teeth are lying
When millions of people of hunger are dying

A time of year when growth is all but dormant though the grass has grown an inch or two of late
And the peach tree in the garden almost leafless and Winter just around the corner wait
And male blackbird save for a few chirps remains silent he does not have to sing to keep a mate
And just a few Winter plants bloom in the garden and Mother Nature herself hibernate.

Tomorrow may be better you hear some people say
But tomorrow will come in it's own good time we must live for today
And tomorrow for some will not dawn that's life one must suppose
We are as fragile it would seem as the petals of the rose,

Though some they may hurt you with words that they say
As long as their words are not defamatory in any way
Give them back in words as good as you've got
You too can have your go at stirring the pot.

An old saying I remember that I wish was a lie
That the longer you live the sooner you will die
Three score and ten years the average human life span
Though one ought to live for as long as one can

You may be one of the nice people of the town
Always willing to help others never out for your own renown
You help those in need ofhelping every day
Yet not everyone of you has nice things to say

I may never climb Clara Mountain again
Or hear the breeding frogs croak in the water logged drain
When the mild winds of March from the Boggeraghs blow
And in the rushy old fields the male pheasants crow
...

You may leave your hometown on your journey to elsewhere
For to start a new life in the big World out there
You may think you are leaving your past behind but you have got it wrong
For wherever you go to your past with you goes along
...

We may have great plans for the future but the future seems so far away
And we only can live in the present tomorrow is another day
The future's not ours to look into I once heard a wise woman say
And the sooner the rose comes into bloom the sooner 'twill fade to decay.

Now the nesting birds are singing in the green woods far away
And above the bracken mountain skylark piping all the day
And the jackdaws are stick gathering in their cloaks of black and gray
And the hawthorns are resplendent in their white blossoms of the May.

It's May and the hawthorns are in bloom
Covered in their fragile blossoms of attractive white
The flower filled meads scent of a sweet perfume
And thrill the nostrils with Nature's delight.

In her cup shaped nest of moss and lined with clay
In hedgerow bush and well hidden from view
The song thrush quietly sit and incubate
Her four small eggs with dark spots through the blue.

A quarter moon shines in the starlit sky
And a dog is barking in the yard nearby
In answer to the fox's wild shrill cry
And moths and insects around the street lamps fly.
...

You may be like many others that time has left old
Whose life story in book form will never be told
On the lives of celebrities people of high public esteem
Most biographers like to write books on or so it does seem
...

Money may speak every language but money will not save
You of the crematorium or the deep dark depths of the grave
The Reaper of lives will come reaping your way
If not in the dark of night then in the light of day
...

You cannot have true friends without making foes
This goes with human relationships one has to suppose
The words of the wise person i do recall
You may well win some but you cannot win them all
...

You may feel depressed due to financial strife
But money is not as important as the great gift of life
And though presently you are going through quite a tough time
You have got good health and you are in your physical prime
...

On hedgerows and in leafy woods nesting birds sing all day
And the hawthorns look resplendent in their white blooms of May
And the bog cotton in the bog looking fluffy and gray
Is stirring in the wind in a Land far away.

The moon silently creeping through the starry sky
Whilst in the high woodland the boobook owl cry
And male brush tail possum on a gum gives his harsh mating call
On a calm night in May in the Southern Fall
...

The calendar Winter less than a week away
From high and wooded Olinda on the last days of May
The currawongs singing on the tall mountain ash trees
Their familiar notes carrying in the freshening breeze
...

Good memories as is known slow to fade away
And though fading a bit the mental images stay
Of Finnow the white river slowly babbling on it's way
Under the bridge to the Blackwater in Drishane in May
...

Your worth as a person you well may doubt
And you ask yourself sometimes what life is about
But hope in your mind it is far from dead
And you believe better days of you are ahead
...

Some may say of you that you are not good enough
But the tough does get going when the going it gets tough
To the club of losers you do not belong
You have the will in you to prove your critics wrong
...

You may do your good deed or two every day
And to help others out you go out of your way
But always one or two who of you will say
He or she must be a fool to help one without asking for pay
...

I may lack in knowledge i may not be wise
But the longer i live the more i realize
That so little of Nature's ways i seem to know
Perhaps for to learn i am rather slow
...

Of a massive heart attack he did die suddenly
A young enough man with a young wife and family
On his birthday last August he turned thirty three
A young millionaire in ways financially.
...

Though some may show you disrespect which is not your due
To your higher self you can only stay true
And though trading insults with anyone may not be a crime
It surely indeed seems a waste of good time
...

You may feel superior to most others but to the scythe of the Reaper you too must fall
Your ego is overinflated but in your ways you are quite small
So full of your own self importance a small minded man in a small town
Where even the highest achiever can only daydream of renown
...

Her rather sly smile her real self betray
The ruler in her home ageing Maggie May
Six times a grandmother with her husband Ed
The ruler of her home by herhe is led
...

Praise may be your due since of late you have done well
But the side affects of this is your ego does swell
And since it makes you feel superior to the humble kind
A swollen ego is not good for the mind
...

Such beautiful weather for late Autumn and May
In the blue and sunny sky just a few clouds of gray
Of a cool though a very mild coastal breeze
And the wild birds are chirping on the bushes and trees
...

You may be a marvelous champion and your fans in large numbers may grow
A sporting hero of your hometown the one everyone wish to know
You are the person of the moment the sporting icon of the town
But as good if not better than you have been beaten and in the popular stakes have dropped down
...

You may even be feeling suicidal at your obvious lack of success
Why even give it a thought the taking of the greatest gift you possess
Than your gift of life there is no greater so why would you wish to throw it away
Even though you feel as poor as a church mouse on what for you is another bad day
...

Perhaps i may never see Millstreet again
And hear the frogs croak in the waterlogged drain
Or see Clara half cloaked in the fogs of rain
Only good memories of what was with me now remain
...

You may as well live in hope as in despair
And not much point in complaining that life is unfair
To people who have their own crosses to bear
The people without any worries are rare
...

You may be a person burdened with life's care
Though your sort in the Human World are not rare
The lust for life in you keeps you living on
Though you feel your better times by now long gone
...

The place where i first saw the light of day
From where i now live far away
And yet the memories with me stay
Of Ireland in the month of May
...

You may call me a loser or call me what you may
But i can see life's brighter side i do laugh every day
Not much point in complaining or saying that life is unfair
Good luck to every celebrity and to every billionaire
...

I may never again see the fields of Millstreet
And people i have known there i may never more meet
Old Claraghatlea i have not seen for twenty six years
Though for what has been i have shed all of my tears
...

You may have been found to be wanting when put to the test
But in fairness you did try your very best
And though your best was not good enough at least not this time around
To lose in a good way as you did there is honor to be found
...
