A. E Loewer Poems

I do not remember you as you were
only as what you became
I cannot recall fond memories of you
but only ones that bring me pain
...

Impossible is nothing
When there’s a hole in the space
Your heart should be
When you’ve felt too much
...

It has finally hit me
like a slap in the face
its caught me where I am
and taking me away from this place
...

sometimes I feel
as though I don't feel at all

I can't reach my thoughts
...

There was silence
in my heart
And for a moment
...

I would live in your love
In the shade of your tree
I’d lie in your warmth
...

I miss the way I used to feel when I was with you
When everything else was lost
Confused
I knew you
...

it's a comfort
and excitement
blended to perfection
beneath the blissful rays
...

when I wake
the day's before me
my eyelids shut
like coffin lids
...

Golden beads, off the lake
Sunrise down, shadows cast
Crickets chirp, stars above
You and I alone at last
...

11.

It broke until the pieces lay in parts no longer recognizable
in dust upon the floor
No more what they once were
No more what it had been
...

I would race you to the end
A race it has become
A facade of lesser feelings
A race I have not won
...

In a sense
others know your face
far better than you ever would
for with their own eyes, they can see past
...

If I only saw my hand
in its mirrored reflection
would I truly see my hand?
in simply looking at its reflexive image
...

I Do Not Remember You As You Were

I do not remember you as you were
only as what you became
I cannot recall fond memories of you
but only ones that bring me pain

and through all this unknowing
I love you still
and yet forget
yet when memory serves
that aching pain ceases to omit

and through this gift, this saving
it brought tears to my eyes
for you I wear it proudly
thoughts of how you may have been surmise

and I'd wish I'd known you better
before this heartache and this pain
for things that never were
can never be again

but when the many years have passed
I will see you once again
and I will learn all the things
that were and might have been
