Althia Johns Poems

She closes her eyes as the tears roll down her cheek for the last time
She's grown tired of the pain she's feeling
Tired of always failing... Of not being good enough
She's tired of holding onto the hope of a brighter day
...

I don't really belong here,
I'm not sure I ever really did.
It's just a place I come for shelter...
From the rain, sleet, and snow.
...

You know that moment of release you get from being in the arms of the one you love
That moment they wrap their arms around you
And you just close your eyes
Take a deep breath and smile
...

Everyone wants a happily ever after.
A lot of them are looking for that fairy tale ending.
But me....I just want a simple happily ever after.
I'm not looking to be showered in gifts.
...

Letting go is one of the hardest things to do,
But baby I had to let go of you.
No matter HOW much I loved you.
You did the one thing you said you wouldn't do.

One Last Cry

She closes her eyes as the tears roll down her cheek for the last time
She's grown tired of the pain she's feeling
Tired of always failing... Of not being good enough
She's tired of holding onto the hope of a brighter day
A day where her efforts will be appreciated and accepted
She now sees this day will never come

She's been burying the pain for years now...
But lately all she ever really does is cry
With each passing day she just sinks deeper and deeper into a deep dark hole
Just wanting to shut out the world
Not that anyone really notices any way

Every night she retreats to her little corner and silently cries herself to sleep
Hoping that tomorrow will be better... Brighter
But it never really is
So that night is the same as the last
And the cycle continues
Until one day...

So she closes her eyes as the tears roll down her cheek for the last time
And she says a short...
Silent prayer to God
'Dear God please forgive me for what I'm about to do... But I can't take the pain anymore... I'm tired of trying'

She closed her eyes as the tears rolled down her cheek for the last time....
And that was...
Her last cry
