Anil Kumar Poems

You are naturally curious
When you pass by
The old village, the old town, the old school, the old love
You have been to
...

I want to see
Tiny hands clutching big ones
Little wobbly steps trying to catch up with the Bigfoots!
I want to see 'shining morning faces'
...

You sit there bleary eyed,
Glued to the screen
Looking at flashing images
From movies, soaps, songs and shows
...

Eid Mubark!

You Are Naturally Curious

You are naturally curious
When you pass by
The old village, the old town, the old school, the old love
You have been to
Just to see how they are doing
While you have moved on.

Inside you something does nag you, bother you
You are no longer a part of them
You who were the lifeline, the very breath, the very soul!
Yet they have has survivied
While you have moved on.

It's part strange, part funny
To enquire from old aquaintances
To find out how someone is doing
And even stranger to find out
That they have survived, continue to exist
While you have moved on.

How strange is the feeling, the urge, the longing
To go back, to be a part of them all over again
And how terrible, how stark the realization
That you can't
While you have moved on...
