Missing Innocence

I know I am young,
I repeat that over and over,
Yet I feel so much older.
I know truths about this world
That many ignore.

Many, no, I have not experienced.
But I've seen
on TV, the news.
in writing, too many times to count.
just by knowing it happens,
I've written it
Because someday I hope for people to
read
My work and realize how ignorant they've
been
To ignore it.

I know I am young,
Yet I feel like someone already over
that figurative hill everyone talks about.
