Ben Huff Poems

I woke up this morning
With a hand full of rain
I had no idea
Where it came from
...

Every day ends the same
All the lights grow dim
Not a single flame
To keep me from the brim
...

There’s a question I ask myself
Each and every night
It doesn’t cost any wealth
Or matter if I’m right
...

Outside these hollow walls
Is my great escape
No, not to freedom
But from this artificial me
...

I’ve been thinking about her a lot
I’m getting so damn old
I don’t know if it’s worth it or not
This story’s not worth being told
...

Self Sabotage
Is the only reason that makes sense
For the state I'm in today
I could be among the crowd of 'lovers'
...

Out of the blue
You snuck up on me
How you made me true
If just you could see
...

If we would get together
Would we treat each other right
If we stayed together
Would we make time for each other
...

As I walked through the San Franciscan streets
A sweet poem flew unto my feet
Well its words rang so true
And I could no longer feel blue
...

(This is one of my first, if not the, long peices, its more of a story then anything, but I hope you enjoy anyways)

When I woke this morning
And I saw your pretty young face
...

(This a collection of words that just seemed to go together, they were all origanly meant to be sepreate and on their own but they seemed to fit together with just the addition of the last lines)

How come I’m so quiet?
...

Backwash gamblers sittin on a porch
Playin 5 card stud of some sort
When along came a stork
That went and flipped the board
...

Shadows dancing on my wall
Was it me that put them their
Or am I losing it
I feel it disappearing
...

My, My, My, My
Savior, friend, my love
You taught me so much
Found me when I was lost
...

Lest we forget
Our family
Friends
Mentors that changed our lives
...

Wistful-pensive (thinking deeply about something, especially in a sad or serious manner) sad: deep in sad thoughts, especially thoughts of something yearned for or lost, or expressing this sad yearning

When all people see in you is a smile
And a bounce in your step, don’t brake
...

Pressured by life
To take a path
“Tell us your chosen way,
How are you getting there? ”
...

Wind keeps blowing at my back
Forcing me the way back home
Every appearance I make is an attack
Each one cuts to the bone
...

People live each moment
In a deep foggy haze
They can’t pay their rent
To stay indoors
...

You’ve given me all that a world could give
And you’ve shown me love, with it all
Yet in return, you ask for something
I just can’t give
...

(freedom) New Found Faith

I woke up this morning
With a hand full of rain
I had no idea
Where it came from
No reason why it was there
But all I heard
Deep down inside
Was my heart
Yearning to be free

Freedoms just another word for
Nothing Left to lose
But I think, NO, I know
That freedom
Can be so much more than that
So I’ll take the first step
Toward my new Happiness
And really believe
In My
New Found Faith

Trust in yourself
Believe what you know
Don’t let those demons
Beat you down
When you trust in yourself
You’ll find the freedom that I’ve found
And you’ll have yourself a
New Found Faith
