Maybe I’m just a lemon
Constantly bombarded with every insult in the book

Holds the past
Inner layers deep
Sedimentary deposits
Hold in silent peace

As the bison can't feed without green grass below,
As the people can't live without bison galore,
As the grass grows too long, with no buffalo eating,
As the water feeds all, keeps them living -

Fumes of raw scorched fossil fuels
O’er mother earth man cruelly pollutes
Caring not of webs of life
Or masses of creatures’ lives deprived
...

The flowers wave to oncomers
Their aroma swirling about
The light spring morning's flowing gown
Waking the seeds left by the birds last fall
...

When the day is fresh and sun is new
When the mosses drip with morning dew
When the crystal webs of spiders shine
And symbolize a dawning time
...

A dull whisper from the wind
Telling a deep secret to hickory
When its leaves are ripe and trunk is cool
Begins the origin of a mystery
...

Mommy cried.
