Dog And Hog Poem by Cameron Gallant

Dog And Hog

Dog was a hog
Hog was a dog
Log was a bog
And bog was the fog
That Dog called smog
And Hog called bog

Dog went to the log
Which was drenched in smog
There he swam in the log
And then met up with Hog
Who drank from the log
And breathed in the bog

Are you following?

Now along comes Cat, who’s actually a rat
Says hello to Dog who’s by now in the log with Hog, his bog, and Dog’s smog
Cat says “Scat you gnat I’m about to spat! ”
Sounds simple enough if things were only like that!
Scats referring to Dog and gnat to Hog
Is saying ‘go bats’ when she’s saying ‘splat’
“Oh scat, I’m afraid fat brat the rat wants to come make himself matte”

Yes, if you’re lost in the bog now, don’t be ashamed
Cause rat is brat and brat means a cat. Fat’s Matt and matte’s fat.
“Don’t worry. You’re not in a quag! ” Dog wattles up to Cat, and addresses such like that!

“You’re with Hog and Dog, safe from brat, Cat, near a log when you’re covered in bog.”
