I Met God Today

I met God today on the street
Sitting on a park bench in the city
I asked him, 'How do you do, Lord? '
And He replied, 'As fine as could be, my son.'

Recalling the many times in its life that it's been used
A fractured limb revealing the marks of a child's rope swing
Its roots recalling the soothing moisture of a babbling spring

Hovering above, dressed in only his robe.

Her heart hardens feeling that she has no hope.

Think Of Me

Think of me
As you look upon a grassy knoll
And you will see me rolling in the clover

Through the times I've gotten to know you
I have held you always in great esteem
You have always been there for others in need
I feel privileged to have called you my friend

Part I
Thunder rolls across the lone prairie

A simple bed filled with hay
A special child likes nobody else
Destined to give his life away.

She stands on the corner of the block
Nobody taking heed to her pleading cries
'Won't somebody please feed my baby? ' she laments
As she chases off the bloodthirsty, swarming flies.
