When those for peace and World harmony will finally prevail
For those who talk of waging war are surely doomed to fail.

Can one see hope for the future of humanity when the foes of Nature in business and commerce succeed
When our Earth Mother is being raped for her resources by those known for their financial greed
In South America's Amazon Rainforest thousands of acres of trees are cut down every day
The uncalled for destruction of the natural environment for agriculture for to make way

One the literary critics do not know of for to dismiss as not good enough
Even the best of my rhymes seems quite simple and rough
In the early twenty first century for to make the literary grade
The standards nowadays quite high in the wordsmith trade

I hope to be living for to welcome the Spring
And hear again the song the male blackbird does sing
His familiar song so melodious and clear
A beautiful voice of the Spring of the year

I only can hope i have not seen my last Spring
The great gift of life is a wonderful thing
I want to live on for as long as i can
And die in my sleep without pain as a very old man

I hope of life a few more years of me ahead
I may not be worth much living but i would be worthless dead
Just an aging hack of an old rural town
Were i born a horse by now i would be put down

The judgmental may dismiss you as a never do well
But you too have your stories of life for to tell
Though your stories may never be published in book form to sell
As they do go unnoticed those of Earthly Hell

Money speaks every language it does seem this way
And is seen as most important in the Human World of today
Few do wish to know of the financially down
The homeless and hungry of the poor side of the town

Feeling suicidal and mentally down and struggling to cope
But as the saying goes where there is life there is hope
And hang in there in life as the wise one does say
Tomorrow for you might be a better day

You may be one who is racked by inner strife
One who has lived on the tough streets of life
But with lack of success you have learned to cope
So marvelous indeed is the great gift of hope

Financially embarrassed and tough times of you ahead
And sometimes you feel you would be better off dead
But the longest lived human life in time is a brief span
So hang on to life for as long as you can

For many years i have been a rhyming buff
And i have written reams and reams of rhyming stuff
And since fame is not for those who write doggerel
Perhaps i am bound for the poetasters hell

If i did tell you different this would be a lie

Conceit and arrogance to the ego are tied
As well as the feelings of snobbery and pride

Any hope of success as a writer from me has long gone

I am one from west of the Town of Millstreet from where i now live far away
From those old fields that were green on all Seasons i used to see old Clara every day
But the lust for wander for years had been in me and from there my journey southward did begin
I yearned for to see some of the big World out there suppose in life nothing venture nothing win
...

I hope again to climb on Clara on a Summer day in July
When little brown lark rise from the bracken to sing as upwards he does fly
And singing as he is ascending that he is Nature's supreme aerial songster none ought to deny
In fancy i can hear him singing a musical speck in the sky

Wherever there is hope there is beauty and wherever there is beauty there is hope
And in life you are never a failure if with failure you are one who does cope
You are better than the joyful winners who in losing are not gracious at all
Such people do lack in humility and in some of their ways are quite small

Financially down and struggling to cope
But all is not lost for the people with hope
For in hope there is not a more positive thing
The future for you better things may bring
...

Your worth as a person you often do doubt
And sometimes you do wonder what's life all about
But for a better future to hope you do cling
The great gift of hope is a wonderful thing

To you good tidings will come if in hope you keep faith
For the turn of luck comes to all of those who do wait
Those who laugh last laugh loudest as some like to say
The hard times will fade to a far better day

I hope to go on living for as long as i can
And i would like to die without pain in my sleep as an old man
And though more than likely i will not live for a century
What will happen to my last remains is of no worry to me

One can only hope that a Universal Paradise for good people is not based on a lie
That we are not born to a terminal life and then to forever die
Otherwise what point in living a good life if we die and are no more
If there is no such a thing as a Universal Paradise beyond this Earthly shore

Why mere survival for some species is becoming such a strain

In ten years from now in time not a long span
If I am alive I will be an old man
The clock on our lives ever ticking away
And every day nearer to our final day

He is in a cocoon of sadness and stress
The poor bloke who lives at the No Hope Address
In the poor side of Town where job starts are rare
And where many are jobless and must live off of welfare
...

I hope for a peaceful World for to live in
Without any war for to lose or to win
A World without hunger or homelessness or poverty
And a World without even one refugee
...

I never could warrant the title of poet
Nor am i one worthy of literary note
I am just a rhymer and little else more
This is something you may have heard me say before
...

Though hope of better times in me not dead
At my age i don't look too far ahead
But to daydream of great wealth ought not be a sin
I would gladly welcome a big lotto win

My rhymes not considered to be poetry and i'm not much use at writing prose
We all cannot be above average as one would have to suppose
But we all do need a hobby and for as long as i do live

Last night it was raining and stormy this morning the cold skies are gray
But I'll live till the reaper will claim me and I hope that it won't be today
For I'd hate to die in wet weather when the rain is bucketing down
And the river has spilled over it's banks and flooded the streets of the Town

The bells of St Peter's ring of joy and hope
Telling the Roman Catholic World that we have a Pope
And Joseph Ratzinger 'Benedict the sixteenth' came to the window overlooking St Peter's Square
And blessed the one hundred thousand cheering people assembled there.

I know where i was born at but i don't know where I'll die
And if i told you i cared then that would be a lie
For the dead past all feeling they have had their day
Live for as long as you can as a wise one did say,

I cannot even hope to imagine the way that you do feel
Compared to some your problems may seem little but to you your problems are real
Life's journey is not always easy and life's not always fair
And many left to struggle with their black dog of despair.

'Tis hard for you to smile when you are feeling down
And seen as one of the none achievers of the town
Your partner has left and taken with her the children and to you won't be back
And the tunnel of your life is looking quite black
...

The lust for power, wealth and fame is an addictive thing
And the praises of the wealthy and the famous their admirers do sing
But what chance of success and wealth and renown
For one who is born on the poor side of the town
...

With all these wars and talks of wars I fear for Humankind
For man the premier primate to self destruction is inclined
Talks of terrorists and terrorism in the news headlines every day
And who and what's a terrorist I ask you anyway? .
...

We are at the point in history where might gives right to rule
And those with power as we well know have always been so cruel
And who should have or not have nuclear weapons not for the powerful to decide
As all such weapons ought to be banned, dismantled and destroyed.

I love the word hope 'tis a great word it keeps reminding you when you are down
That in many ways you are lucky you are not the worst off in the town
Compared to some you are quite lucky and though you may not be one of the privileged few
There's hope and comfort in the thought that many are worse off than you.

She is not a religious woman and she doesn't believe in prayer
And though down to her last dollar of hope she will not despair
And two days till welfare payment 'she can't go to grocery store'
And her three children must go hungry and the youngest only four.
