Where To Hope For The Future Poem by Francis Duggan

Where To Hope For The Future

The lust for power, wealth and fame is an addictive thing
And the praises of the wealthy and the famous their admirers do sing
But what chance of success and wealth and renown
For one who is born on the poor side of the town
Few daydream of fame on poor poverty street
Where few ever know of enough for to eat
Where many at a young age live homeless and rough
And where to have a place they can call home to is seen as good enough
Where many of drug overdosage have died
And many at a young age commit suicide
Without any role models for them to inspire
And none to look up to and none to admire
And where to hope for the future they struggle to cling
Of the praises of celebrities you will not hear them sing
