After Woodstock

The inspiration for today's poem…I found beneath my feet…
as I began my walk this morning…in a guitar stain on the street.

Last night we attended a concert at a friends house…where we sat off in the wings…and listened to Walter Parks serenade us…tells us stories…and coax his guitar to sing.

The Friends We Had

I picked up my old high school yearbook from on the shelf where it has stood for many years and when I opened it I thought…it smelled like childhood.

Turned The Other Way

I was blessed to officiate at our son (Ryan's) and his now wife (Amy's) wedding yesterday…the only person at the wedding who was turned the other way.

Our Shared Beating Heart

We marched for peace again on Sunday…and from the very start….
Lup-dup…lup-dup…lup-dup
our footsteps on the ground made the sound of a beating heart.

Riding On A Pendulum

Life is like a pendulum…rhythmically swinging to and fro…
it swings back and forth through opposing forces wherever we may go.

Nothing ever stays the same…our world is in a constant sway…

Here's To More Billet-Douxs

One of the fringe benefits of working in a rare book bookstore is I get to hold and see…books that were published in the 1890's…books twice as old as me!

More often than not in these rare old books I've come to understand
when I open the cover I'm going to find a dedication…written by someone's hand.
