Joseph Anthony Montefusco Poems

This land was once vastly green
Soil was as pure as lake water
Wild beasts roamed free
And Mother Earth was queen
...

The obedient glimmer in its eyes
seems to have died
And not much to my surprise
...

A once beautiful flower
Full of fruits and dreams
Now wilts away
From environmental srceams
...

What was once known as democracy
Has now become hypocrisy
Because America’s not what it should be:
Land of the Brave; Home of the Free
...

It’s been only three days
since our hearts intertwined
Now I sit wishing
that I could rewind time
...

“Truth”
In this world now-a-days
What we need is truth,
Whether talking on your cell
...

A phase of shadows where
only the dead dance
And all the corpses bask
in an eerie romance
...

8.

I wish I was naïve
So I wouldn’t have to believe
All those things I should not see
...

What more is there to say
About a mind dulled by decay
And a soul sliced everyday
By their futile ways
...

I am no longer among the living
Yet neither am I dead
Am I trapped in another dimension?
Or deep inside my head?
...

Morning Innocence
We’re all born with it
As children, its what we live on
Screw death and destruction
...

As my fingers touch this board
Nothing but my pure poetic soul is borne

And as my soul bleeds through my finger tips
...

In this nation of integration
Were still segregation and separation
Thrives and tries to survive
And derive its strength from racist thoughts
...

J- you are my treasured friend
When either of our hearts are broken - one of us will mend
From our pains, to every boy and girlfriend
Me and you will be there - until the end
...

15.

The pain of fifteen years
Summed up in one six foot tall body
Everything from death to backstabbing peers
He even stared into the barrel of a 'shotty'
...

A place where depression and thought converge
Into one mass of insanity
Where maniacal thoughts begin
To form within the cranial cavity
...

As her eyes sweep the room
She searches for prospects
Overlooking the one man that loves her
Regardless… she inspects
...

18.

A life tried hard
Tested by the ages
Overcome with stress
Channeled onto pages
...

Where am I?
I see the waves surround
True I might be flotsam
But nothing else is around
...

'Hear ye! Hear ye!
This court is now in session
The charges brought up
Are of unlawful possession
...

The Best Poem Of Joseph Anthony Montefusco

... But That's Progress

This land was once vastly green
Soil was as pure as lake water
Wild beasts roamed free
And Mother Earth was queen

Then out of nowhere these things came
Giant metal towers fell and scraped the sky
Power over nature they gained
Many species died in the metal's name

Now a spec of grass can rarely be spied
Even the beasts are barely there
Earth is dead in nature's sight
And all the while Mother Nature cried.
