So every first feeling for you would be true

I cried today for all the firsts
When I thought that I would never get to tell you I love you
Or never get to see your mom's warm smile
Or never get to kiss your lips

It comes to me in pieces
Like gasps of air between the days
As if consecutive is too much
Or like an epiphany sliced in portions
...

What happens to a relationship deferred
Are raisins involved
Does it pick up where it left off
Does it acknowledge the inbetweenness of my heart

I fell at first Hello
I got up at your first Goodbye
