Kris Viscardini Poems

Lockdown will make you frown
and maybe get you down
the motto of the virus
is 'we'll get you to hire us! '
...

Nobody saw him, the errant golfer
but still he swished, ball lacking
I was deeper in the rough than you thought
and not swinging but hacking
...

They came from far and wide,
Some had a comfortable ride,
others suffered the strains
of non-existent trains!
...

They muck you up your hook and slice
they may not mean to but they do
they fill your head with evil thoughts and vice
and add some extra just for you
...

Activity abounds as we rush around
building our houses of cards
we think them solid and stable
and able to avoid
...

I am a pigeon but none cares or knows
my friends forsake me like a memory loss
alone in the garden I'm consumed by woes
my family flies in oblivious host
...

My dear cousin Paul
So strong, healthy, walking tall
What forces came to maul
our stoic, splendid Paul?
...

Everywhere everywhen everyone
arising, vibrating, dissolving........

Beginning of form, concealed from our God
...

My dreams cling to me
You are beside me
Everything is you and me
I'm watching you in awe
...

Know thyself, nothing in excess
enjoy the caress
without any stress.
...

What are we to make
of all our candidates?
Some are candid
Some are rancid

Mary Carden
met Mary Carden
down in Kent's garden
I beg your pardon!
...

In Fontainebleau
Where we love to go
before we get much older
we'd like to climb that boulder
...

You can slip it on in Slipton
and take it off in Skipton
or hoik it up in Hawick
or trim your wick in Lowick
...

Pack the car
we're going far
We may end up looking like tramps
after staying at all our camps
...

I live in Tenby
I'm full of ennui
which some call envy
...

An early start at sparrow's fart
we get loose with orange juice and melon
and the odd jaffa cake, our hunger to slake.
...

Do not go gentle into that bad swing
old age should burn and rave at close of fun
rage, rage against the dying of the swing
though wise men know that shank is right
...

Half a job, half a job,
Half a job onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the one hundred.
...

Let me not to the elegance of true minds
Admit impediments. Design is not Design
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with urge to misalign:

Lockdown

Lockdown will make you frown
and maybe get you down
the motto of the virus
is 'we'll get you to hire us! '

Some of us are quite immune
others will be gone by June
I hope it isn't coming soon
for poor people from Truro to Troon

The little fellas will say
'We're just doing our job
a year ago there weren't many of us
but now we're quite a mob! '

You ask 'What about the vaccine? '
that's coming on the scene
we little fellas hate it
it's really quite obscene

So we'll try what life always does
when it's feeling lost or trapped
we'll get our genome in a buzz
and make us all adapt

The problem is there's too many of YOU
and it's time for us to feed
I know it makes you all feel blue
but you're satisfying OUR need!

Perhaps if you listen to nature more
and realise 'It's us not them! '
that started all this war
let's get a balanced ecosystem
then live for evermore!

If not, we'll reap the harvest of our greed
and succumb at jet speed
we'll say 'Goodbye' to wellness
and maybe find the stillness
within the stillness..............
