1.

I'm lucky to have
Someone I can call at night
When nothing is alright
And I don't see the light
...

2.

The quiet of longing
Footsteps shuffling along
The streets after a hot rain
A heart that's lost it's murmur
...

It's midday outside a brothel
Pacing through the alleyway
Sunlight is cloaked in shadows
Of brick tenements
...

I'll let her borrow
That blood-stained cardigan
With Splotches of ink
Seeping through the fabric
...

Today I decided
I'd step outside
I dont know why
But I did
...

White noise
Ceiling fans
Sitcom reruns
Classical ambience
...

I spent all night listening to the words pouring out of your mouth uncontrollably
I sat there patiently and beyond consoling
I couldn't wait for it to be over
...

It's been raining all night
And I drank too much to drive
I'm in a sea of red brake lights
And bright neon bar signs
...

It's the summer of our souls
Drawing to a close
We have nothing left to gain
But everything to lose
...

I never lock my door anymore
In case you change your mind
I always make an extra plate
In case you come to dine
...

11.

Strong
I never was
I've never been
Ive coated my skin
...

I don't know where I've been
But I know that now I'm back
And I wish I wasn't
It was peaceful then
...

I tried to make something for everyone
With a touch of this
A brush of that
A little inkspot
...

There's a single flame
That remains
Apprehensive and flailing
Through a stolid morning wind
...

With my finger on the pulse
Of holy invocations
I hear the hoarse cries
And embittered shouts
...

I've been driving this flaming hearse
All through the nighttime fog
Immersed in endless thought
And all that I've done wrong
...

Here's to trying
Here's to pretending
Here's to holding back the tears
And fighting off the years
...

In this alleyway
They'll never find me
With my teeth gleaming
A cold grin in the dark
...

Id rather be alone
Than have to deal the insufferable
Torrential downpour
Of your overbearing soul
...

Where have you been?

Walking down that old road again?
...

The Best Poem Of Matt Render

Lucky

I'm lucky to have
Someone I can call at night
When nothing is alright
And I don't see the light

I'm lucky to have
Someone who is there
To talk about the weather
And why I'm so scared

I got fired again
And my bills are piling
But you are my friend
And you keep me smiling

It's 12 30 am
But I take comfort in knowing
I can hear your voice
It keeps me going

When I don't know what to do
You'll see me phoning
To talk about the news
You keep me going.

I'm lucky to have you
