Alone is not a word
that sings of joy,
and yet alone
is that sweet space

life exists always,
cannot be undone
does not notice if continuity
is in a worm
...

Fragrance caught in steam
drifts past
the slightest scent of burning,
feel of warmth that flowers
...

I raced the dawn this morning
faster than light around the corners,
up the hills and down the dales...
Must have been faster, I was in shadow,
...

I remember loving you
the food I could not eat,
breath trapped with words
inside my soul, my throat
...

If I whisper down the drainpipe
does the devil hear my sighs?
if I write and burn a love song
do the angels read my cries
...

Time has blurred
has watered down
the light I see.
Each colour,

Night is darker in the new year
dark as lonely dreams
as bitter as the tear
the lemon weeps
...

Sun struggles to the surface
through the heavy weight
of cloud folded in the east;
night’s comforter discarded,

Someone has put their fingers
on my soul
has stroked the fibers of my being
and made them moan
