Hope Springs Poem by Midnight Clarity

Hope Springs

Night is darker in the new year
dark as lonely dreams
as bitter as the tear
the lemon weeps
when crushed against
a hard place, or a grater
can I be serious a moment?
may I tell you what I feel?
can you hear my sigh,
my desolation, can you feel
the throb, the pulse of hope
my battered heart gives
when the messge sign
is flashing red, when jasmine
drowns my senses with the night,
dark chocolate seduction that calls
me into wakefulness as siren stars
weave their slow dance to sweet
celestial music mere mortals
cannot hear.
