a crossroads -
explaining -
exhilaration -
upon turning 70
finally taken seriously
a years difference
remarkable
lastly, an elder
now valued?

ridiculed ideas
in younger years
good-looking –
a detriment to women
“Have you really thought about this, honey? ? ”
never said today
brilliant or demented?

theories held constant
now formulated
into popular beliefs
previously considered
preposterous
a part of today’s culture
a few decades
make the difference?

possibilities
now gleaned
nere flighty, spacey...

MESSINA

In the 60's and 70's
I used to love to listen
to Loggins and Messina.

Huddled in a white wool afghan
I had knitted ten, pearled ten,
looking out of the glassed walls
