Nicanor P. Tiosen Poems

If it takes a lifetime
to realize a dream,
never would I give up
though it may cause some pain.
...

Once, I tried to climb a mountain
Hurrying to explore the top;
But vines and crags slowed my ascent
And so I reached just half-way up.
...

Through the night the storm rages
Wreaking havoc on its way;
Neath a dripping roof bedraggled souls
Are huddled as they pray.
...

Who says nothing in life is fair?
He is asleep - deep in a dream;
For how could he be so unaware
people thrive down the river
...

People who are born fighters
do not easily give up;
When the odds are much too great
they just smile, but they won't stop.
...

Listen young one to a haunting song.
Listen to the song of life:
a happy tune in the dawning,
a sad refrain at eventide.
...

We are the children of the dust.
Like our forebears, here we stay
trodden under foot for centuries -
by men, both shackled and free.
...

In life, nothing is constant.
Everything's in a state of flux.
Not surprising for Earth has, since,
Been spinning, not ever been lax.
...

Where are you, friends of my youth -
Why have you forsaken me?
Isn't that through thick and thin
You vowed, with me you'll stay?
...

Waking up early one morning
I gazed toward the eastern sky;
Framed against a golden canvass
are silhouettes of birds in flight.
...

Once in every lifetime
a special place exists - where
dreams are draped in shining hue,
in silvery threads of mist.
...

They say life is a box of surprises.
Surely, it's more than that.
Anyone may rightly guess what's in a box -
in life, no one knows what next is up.
...

Even If It Takes A Lifetime

If it takes a lifetime
to realize a dream,
never would I give up
though it may cause some pain.

If it takes a lifetime
to reach the goal,
I will keep on going to the end -
rising up, every time I fall.

If it takes a lifetime
to find lasting happiness,
then would I not be surprised at all
should a beautiful day be shrouded in mist.

If it takes a lifetime,
gladly would I wait
for a wonderful promise
of a love that's so great.

Sweet success does not come overnight, I know.
But I'll watch each spring from the ground and grow.
I'll patiently hope for its fruit midst dirt and grime,
even if it takes a lifetime.

I am using my present email address but I was advised to use instead the one that used in 2010 when I logged it to PoemHunter.com. The problem is, I do not remember anymore the password that I used then. Could anyone from PoemHunter help me on this? I want to add more poems to my collection here.
