Once Upon A Beautiful Island! Poem by Nicanor P. Tiosen

Once in every lifetime
a special place exists - where
dreams are draped in shining hue,
in silvery threads of mist.

It could be anywhere in the world
midst woodlands or by the sea,
where gloom and dread easily vanish
as unshod feet run free.

Within my heart is deeply carved -
a niche, an island paradise -
gulls romancing the waves at morn
nestling ashore at eventide.

Along the sandy beach, I remember
far from the maddening crowd,
man's silent praise of the Almighty
blends with the wind - echoing loud!

Now looking back in time - etched
is a fleeting moment in the sand
a life, short but happily led
once upon a beautiful island!
