The sea that took my sons away,
Was once a source of hope and play,
But now it's where my heart doth lay,
With my dear sons who couldn't stay.

In the depths of the Mediterranean's embrace,
Where waves and sorrow interlace,
A tragic tale unfolds each passing day,
Of lives lost, dreams shattered, swept away.

In Nigeria's embrace, where heroes rest,
Their valour shines, by sacrifice blessed,
But oh, the plight their families endure,
Neglected souls, their burdens obscure.

In the realms of verse, where emotions dance,
I find solace in the poetic expanse.
Where words take flight, emotions alight,
Poetry, to me, is pure delight.

In the depths of my solitude, I pondered,
Seeking solace from a world that had me ensnared,
Yearning for a presence, a guiding light,
A person to fill the void, to make things right.

In whispers that stir the quiet air,
Gossip echoes, light as a feather.
Yet beneath the surface, hides despair,
In the bonds that it seeks to sever.

In the heartland of Nigeria, politicians rise,
With promises as sweet as nectar, they catch your eyes,
A dance of pretence, a masquerade in disguise,
They wear a mask of hope, beneath the African skies.

In the twilight of his days, an elder wise and true,
With a heart that's weathered storms, and eyes that have seen anew.
He called upon the youth, with words from depths of old,
To guide them through life's paths, where secrets are untold.

In the realm where hearts do meet,
And ties of friendship appear so sweet,
There's a tale of trust and deceit,
A dance of shadows beneath your feet.

A Father's Lament

The sea that took my sons away,
Was once a source of hope and play,
But now it's where my heart doth lay,
With my dear sons who couldn't stay.

Through Niger and through Libya's land,
They sought a life they couldn't stand,
In search of hope, they took a stand,
But ended up in Death's cold hand.

My heart is heavy, my soul is torn,
My sons are gone, forever gone,
Their dreams and hopes, forever shorn,
By a journey that left them forlorn.

Oh youths, my sons' fate beware,
The journey's not for those who dare,
For in the sea, Death doth ensnare,
And leave behind a heart in despair.

Stay in your land, and make it grow,
For there's a future you can sow,
A life of hope, a life of glow,
That death or sea could never overthrow.

Oh sea, oh sea, you took my all,
My sons, my hope, my heart's own call,
But I'll keep hoping, standing tall,
And warn others of your deadly thrall.

For my sons' sake, I'll speak out loud,
And tell the world of your dark shroud,
A journey that's not for the proud,
But one that leaves behind a mourning crowd.
