Dr. Oyekake Satty Joshua-Amopho. PEng (UK) , FSPE
Engineer • Applied Computing Specialist • Strategist • Poet
O. S. Joshua-Amopho, nicknamed Yoshi, is an engineer, applied computing specialist, researcher, and poet whose interdisciplinary career spans more than 35 years across telecommunications, enterprise IT architecture, sustainable network engineering, satellite systems, intellectual-property investigation, and the literary arts. His work integrates scientific precision with theological depth and creative insight.
Dr. Joshua began his professional career in the plastics manufacturing industry (1980-1983) , working across three specialized facilities on Long Island, NY. At Georgia-Pacific in Farmingdale, using Monsanto materials, he performed resin mixing and compounding. At Continental Plastics, he specialized in color compounding for injection molding, producing exact pigment formulations. In Garden City, he worked in plastics extrusion, operating continuous-production systems. These experiences grounded him in materials science, engineering processes, and disciplined technical work.
He entered the telecommunications field in the mid-1980s through Independent Network Systems (INS) and AD/SAT, companies within the Maxwell Communications Group that later merged under David Hilton. Working with C-band and KU-band satellite systems, he supported one of the fastest pre-Internet advertisement delivery platforms in the U.S. These foundational years funded both of his master's degrees and shaped his technical identity.
Dr. Joshua later served at Lucent Technologies—Bell Labs Innovations, contributing to integrated network solution testing, broadband deployment engineering, standards and interoperability validation, and intellectual property investigations involving ATM and Frame Relay technologies. His work supported next-generation architectures and contributed to significant litigation outcomes.
He is a co-author of two peer-reviewed conference proceedings:
• Emerging Technologies Making a Business Case for Networking Convergence (ASCOMS/TELE-INFO/AEE '03, New York)
• A Three-Prong Business Case Centered Approach to Sustainable Network Solutions (IMT Conference Proceedings, Orlando,2004)
These papers emerged from his doctoral research and correctly anticipated the architectural foundations of today's converged networks, including multi-access integration, unified IP transport, and sustainable network engineering principles.
Dr. Joshua holds a Doctorate in Computing and an MS in Telecommunications from Pace University; an MS in Information Systems and a BTech in Electromechanical Engineering from CUNY City College; and an AAS in Plastics & Mechanical Engineering Technology from SUNY Morrisville. He is a Professional Engineer (UK) and a Fellow of the Society of Professional Engineers (FSPE) .
He currently serves as Senior Application Systems Analyst & IT Manager at Christ Church, leading enterprise IT modernization, cloud strategy, virtualization, cybersecurity, multi-campus networking, and integrated systems design. He is also a Technology Consultant for Pillar College, supporting academic technology transformation through LMS/SIS integration, VoIP modernization, and sustainable IT infrastructure.
In addition to his technical and academic work, Dr. Joshua is a published poet. He has works published with The National and International Library of Poetry, received the Editor's Choice Award for his recorded collection Visions, and authored Friendship, Love and Pain (Vantage Press,1998) . Many of his poems appear on PoemHunter.com. His writing synthesizes engineering clarity with spiritual reflection and philosophical introspection, influenced by his engagement with Reformed Biblical Theology.
Dr. Joshua's career stands at the intersection of engineering, scholarship, theology, and the literary imagination—an uncommon synthesis that shapes his leadership, teaching, and creative expression.
When life bears you down
And your feet are heavy
When your heart is crushed
And the grinding relentless
...
I want no other reward
I want no other blessing
But to be found in your presence
In the smallest activities of life
...
This blessed moment of acquaintance
This unintentional but fateful meeting
A consoling presence, soothing breeze
This pleasant spirit, a newfound friend
...
Let me be to God
The fragrance of Christ
A sweet savor of His glory
A reflection of His character
...
