Off the coast of California
where else
hornyhead turbot
and there's a name for a start
were found to be bisexual with
ovary tissues in their testes
the males were found congregated
around a sewage outlet
before graffiti writers
and fundamentalist preachers
develop the implications of
this newsflash
I think I'll stop

The end is perfect and perfectly timed. Every aspect of the poem adds to its humor: the name of the confused little fish; the image of them congregating around the sewage outlet (no doubt smoking anchovies and propositioning passing schools of fish (male, female, etc.): and the invitation to the reader to speculate at his/her/its peril all combine to make this a delight.
