12 Souls At 7: 00pm Poem by Stephen Gregory

12 Souls At 7: 00pm

12 souls at 7: 00 pm

The party was in its second day
Or it was the second day of the party
At my house
A house I shared with others
It was formal to the point of suits
A crowd had gathered on the large front porch
One gentleman stood up
I saw two people in him or standing side by side him
He seemed like one person, though
With two heads
I asked him if they were twins.
“Come here…” he said
I came across the room
Where he stood
He placed my hands around his back and waist
Then he turned around
Each person in him
Had a physical presence
Like a head or “talking place”
Each spoke and said hello
They were located on the back of the man
I originally saw as one
I was being greeted by a man on each side
A group of four at one shoulder
Behind the head was a group of four women
With the voices of women, anyway
As I held them, I stated that…
I had better let go soon
Because I felt too good
There were, inside this man
What felt like a group of people?
In his flesh at least 12 souls
Some were grouped in the hair on the back of his head
When I let go of him
He left the party…
As did everyone else at 7: 00pm
It seemed too early.
