Stuttering gunfire
Bodies like rags lie in heaps
On the burning road
Blood dries out fast in the heat
But lives seep slowly away.
The innocent caught
In a nightmarish madness
Wrong place and wrong time
Slaughtered and left to die
Victims of a faceless crime.
I can almost hear the thud of breath bereft disowned dead falling into the sparkling sheets of memories... memories of a place that swung and swaggered often without a rhyme or reason
Slaughtered and left to die Victims of a faceless crime. HOW TRUE.
Brilliantly evocative. An elegant economy of words. Poignantly prescient. Unfortunately, in Karachi's case, also seemingly timeless. Substitute 'Exploding bombs' for the first line and you have '18th October 2007. Karachi.' It's just so very depressing. No place for a fair poet, if you ask me. Can I help you escape? Naomi
.....had witnessed the myhem live on tv..........so well said........anyway should had said something regarding the faces behind the faceless and ruthless massacre............! ! ! ! !
