1885 Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

1885

1885

Started to hate me
Right from beginning
That I turned into name
And with that in the chain!

Name murders freedom!
Name murders freedom!
Name murders freedom!

Now, I am what am called
regardless short or long…
no more am what I want…

Recall the Queen when
Kept changing name to name
Tried to avoid name
But "No name" too, is name.

Freddy knew well
That a name is a chain;
So, tried very hard
To have life without it…

But brainwashed we are
Need to be Jack, Scott
Or Janet or Leila…

This is what I see of
The Eighteen, Eighty-Five.

Talk is of massacre
near the Frog Lake
but never of reasons
or wives and children
of the hung, students
brought in to observe
the hanging of brave…

Names kill the freedom!
Names kill the freedom!
Names kill the freedom!
