(2001) Saying Goodbye Poem by Deana Rode

(2001) Saying Goodbye

Rating: 2.9

You wouldn't look at me
as I said my final words
I guess the pain of watching me go
was too much for you to take.

I reached my hand out
but you hesitated for a moment
I guess the thought of not having me
was too painful for your heart.

I tried to comfort you
while your tears fell from your eyes
I guess seeing me fade away
was too horrifying for your mind

I whispered that I loved you
and you told me you loved me too
I guess the words come out in time
when you have to say goodbye.
