#209 The End Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#209 The End

Teresa dear, you were wrong.
I thought that you should know.
Unless you knew all along
The way that things would go.
The path our boat would row.

You said things would just work out,
We’d make it in the end.
So I abandoned all my doubt,
Grew some faith and let it sprout,
And trusted my best friend.

But sweet girl, you were mistaken,
We failed along the way.
The love we built was forsaken
The day you chose to stray,
Where now you choose to stay.

You held out while I held on
To all the dreams we shared.
I can see that you’re still gone,
Still out there moving on
Like you never even cared.

So now I think I’ll let go too
And forget about our past.
I’ll seal all my memories of you,
Wrap my broken heart with a cast,
And get over you at last.

You were wrong, Teresa dear,
It seems it’s finally happened.
You’re not here so you can’t hear
My voice screaming out with fear,
For it seems this is the end.
