239. Poem by Jaden Knight

239.

You have punched me more times than I can remember
kicked more than I care to say
the bruises and scars formed a patten
but not all of them are visible

Broken and almost shattered
still have cracks on my surface
some are merely hairline
others run much deeper
the relics of previous repairs

Worn out and discarded
though I still had much to offer
instead you chose to throw me away
as if I was just a piece of rubbish
replacing me with something temporary
how long before you cast them out too

And yet as the wind blew me about the streets
where you had abandoned me
I was picked up by a stranger
saw my value for what it was
even though I may have needed some time and work

The healing processes have been restarted
the cracks are being filled in
bruises are slowly fading
even some of the scars are disappearing

I'm glad that you left me behind
even though it hurt at the time
it's given me a chance to renew
though I may have the same treatment from others
I will step out again when ready to meet them

gee, this is the second poem in two days to have the word rubbish! i haven't heard that word in MANY years in the U.S. Instead, i hear trash or garbage. the other poem was form Malaysia. maybe a who after stranger? IF i know you, and i think i do, you shall meet them full-force. may your armor be strong and your weapons stronger! another encouraging poem for others who may have been hurt or are being hurt. (i think) bri :)

Usually it's the scars you can't see that run the deepest, hurt the most, and take the longest to heal. A powerful poem about those who suffered from the ones that should have been the best in life. Your poem made me think of not just a persons love painfully lost but also the suffering of a discarded pet.
