#280 Are You Still There? Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#280 Are You Still There?

Do I stroll alone
As I walk tonight?
Do I stand remote
Beneath this soft starlight?

Are you still there
Or have you gone away?
Are you listening
To a single word I say?

Do you see the tears
Streaming from my eyes?
Do you feel the sting
Causing faith’s demise?

Do you know the grief
Burning deep down within?
Do you think I’ll ever
Learn to smile again?

I can’t help but wonder
If you still care at all.
Do you still care
If I collapse and fall?

Do you still care
If I succeed or fail?
Are you aware
Of my sad and tragic tale?

Do you see me now
Fallen helpless to the floor?
Frightened, yet ask,
Don't you love me anymore?

There’re too many wrongs
I just can not make right.
It’s all too much,
Can I, please, come home tonight?
