#391 2009 Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#391 2009

You arrived here with high hopes;
With a bang, a shout and kiss.
You found me on the tallest slopes,
In a world of love and bliss.

You brought the bluest skies
And promised life in July.
But promises are often lies,
November brought goodbye.

You changed my life forever
And took my love and trust.
I was smart but you were clever.
I was a breeze, you were a gust.

You came on fast without slowing,
And left like you'd never been.
My only solace is knowing
You'll never be back again.

You left a nasty, bitter taste,
A year of pain and regrets.
Though the past can't be erased,
In due time the mind forgets.
