#398 Samuel Dean Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#398 Samuel Dean

My baby boy, my second son,
You were born to us today.
Life on earth has now begun,
Your journey's underway.
And what a journey it will be.
Today I held you, held you close,
In my arms so tight.
Your little eyes seemed scared, morose
As you scanned left and right.
Who's spirit did you see?

I ran my finger down your cheek
And pat your little chest.
Your tiny grip was frail and weak
As you held my thumb your best;
A precious, lasting touch.
You're beautiful, a sight to see
As you grow this coming year.
Then I kissed your head tenderly
And whispered in your ear,
'Daddy loves you very much.'
