.5. Furry Fire Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Furry Fire

Mac Tavish had a bad day
When he went to see the squire
Rain got his sporran soaking wet
He had to get it drier

He went back to his cottage
Put his sporran on a spike
Stood it near the kitchen range
And went off on his bike

The sporran started hissing
As the range got up some heat
The leather from its bonny purse
Smelt just like roasting meat

A neighbour got a whiff of it
And went round to enquire
He walked into the kitchen
As the sporran caught on fire

He knew Mac Tavish wasn’t rich
You couldn’t call him fat
But the poor bloke must have hit hard times
If he’s had to roast his cat
