Could I ring your bell this morning?
Till you make a tuneful peel
Could I give you vibrant music?
Till you know just how I feel
Would you listen for my melodies?
When I try to find the key
Would you feel the rhythm of my soul?
When I set my music free
Should I ring it loud with gusto?
So we hit the notes in time
Should I shake the clapper very hard?
To make the old bell’s chime
Will you keep your brassware shiny?
And I’ll tend the ropes I pull
Will you smile for me again today?
And I’ll keep your belfry full
Please take this simple little poem
That I send so you can tell
I find you most appealing
When it’s time to ring that bell
