When I was with you I felt too trapped
weighed down by hopeless expectations
no space to spread and grow
shackled by dreams that could never be
I was not to be crippled by you or your actions
and I told you I was going to leave
not just for me but for the good of us both
in time you would know I was right
I dragged the shackles out of the walls
leaving them dragging in the dust
blood dripped to the floor like tears
as I bid you a final farewell
When I left you a weight was lifted
as every room seemed to expand
the chains that held me were broken
never to be reassembled
Am happy I made the decision to go
even if it seemed heartless at the time
I was wrong to allow you to do what you did
and it will never happen again
