596. Poem by Jaden Knight

596.

You told me to keep going to never give up the fight
yet you are the one who is kneeling at the feet
of the tall and hooded reaper

He seems to be delighted that he has won
his hollow laughter echoes in my head
you rise up to walk with him
only to fade away into nothing

Am disappointed that you gave in
I have tried to ignore my own appointment
denying the possibility of my own mortality
though it still stalks me everyday

You told me to keep going to never give up the fight
knowing that I will face the scythe man myself
maybe I should meet him now
while there is still half a chance
that I can go with him as an equal
