613. Maintenance In Memory Lane Poem by Jaden Knight

613. Maintenance In Memory Lane

You've travelled down memory lane so many times
the maintenance crews have ripped up the pavements
many of slabs need to be replaced
as they are damaged and badly worn

The road is blocked by vehicles
high visibility jackets hanging from their doors
the workers not interested in being fast
slowly proceeding to complete the job

Maybe for now you can remain in the present
at least it may allow you to heal a little
staying in the past can damage your health
as well as harmingyour future
Once the work has been completed
you may return to memory lane
to visit the cemetery of your past
to sob over the graves of long dead memories
