A Blessing For Today Poem by Bill Galvin

A Blessing For Today

A Blessing for Today - March 31,2014

I dreamed that we cleaned up the backyard
And joked if we got just the way you wanted.
I dreamed that you said that when you woke up
In a hospital diaper that you knew everything would be ok.
I dreamed that you were sitting able-bodied on my lap
And recalling how rough it had been.
I dreamed that you were so pleased
That it was all in the past.
I dreamed that you were no longer comatose.

And I awoke.

And I thought that I will go with that for today.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Snapshot of Deb in 1978... before Lupus, before cerebritis, before heart attack and kidney transplant. A braver woman I have never known. Oh, also, before ALS onset in 2013. Some must suffer more than a fair share of life's challenges.
