A Break Poem by Kinyua Karanja

A Break

After a long laboring day
You feel to collapse on the way,
Tired like beast of burden
toiling all a long in the garden,
You arrive home thirsty and hungry
and totally torn and weary.
You negotiate and deal with a mountain
Of ugali and milk you drain
Down your screaming thirsty gut.
You get into your thatched hut
Crowned and decorated in sleep,
You fall in a heap
on your old wooden bed.
You are hurriedly arrested
By sleep and take far away,
Serious dreams carries you astray.
Roaming aimless in dream-lands
You forget your tired hands.
Exploring possibility Universe
Relaxing, your energy reverse.
A nap is the best dosage
That help you to manage
All your fatigue and debility
And rejuvenate your vitality.
